Council approves standards of care

America’s Cover Miss® and Cover Boy® USA pageant will be held at Town East Mall from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on March 12. The beauty pageant and baby contest is open to girls from newborn to age 25 and boys from newborn to six years.
Local businessman wants downtown to become a destination again
Art Greenhaw has a vision for downtown Mesquite. His vision is to tap into the rich heritage that the downtown square once had as a musical hotbed and use that history to make the future bright for the city’s downtown area.
MISD talks education
Mesquite ISD Superintendent Dr. Linda Henrie kicked off the MISD presentations during the joint meeting with the city council on Tuesday. Henrie said that MISD’s completion rate of 89.4 percent is higher than the state average of 79.1 percent. She also discussed the district’s efforts to improve TAKs scores especially in the area of science where the district has been trending upward since 2003.
