Mesquite police searching for two robbery suspects
By Rachael Dickson, Contributing Writer
A series of robberies have taken place recently in Mesquite within four miles of each other.
A convenience store in the 2600 block of Faithon P. Lucas was robbed at 2:51 p.m. on June 19. The suspect was described as a young white man age 18 to 20 years ranging from 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall. The approximately 170 pound man was wearing a dark sports cap, a dark blue bandana, sunglasses, a light blue polo shirt and long dark shorts. He fled on foot into the surrounding neighborhood.
Three robberies that occurred on June 18 and 19 between the hours of 11a.m. and noon are believed to have been committed by the same suspect, as witness descriptions were very similar. The man entered the business in all three cases, demanded money from the employee and displayed a black semi-automatic handgun during the robbery.
Mesquite Police Department spokesman Lt. Bill Hedgpeth said that police are still looking for both suspects.
