Prosper ISD anticipates it will welcome nearly 3,000 students back to school on August 25, the first day of the 2008-2009 school year. School start times remain the same as last year. The elementary school day runs from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The middle school day is from 8:40 a.m. to 3:55 p.m. and the high school day is 8:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Parents are reminded to register their school children online this year. In order for students to be placed on a class list at elementary school or to have a schedule made at a secondary campus, parents must complete the on-line registration process immediately. To access on-line registration, navigate to the Prosper ISD website at www.prosper-isd.net and click on the Student Registration button on the left hand panel.

Parents may pay for school lunches online by accessing the Prosper ISD website and navigating to the Food Service button. For elementary students, lunch costs $1.95. Secondary student lunch costs $2.20. When school begins, every student will be provided with a Federal Application for Free & Reduced School Meals and additional applications are available in each school’s front office. Applications can be turned in to the school office or the cafeteria manager. Students who received lunch assistance last year will continue to qualify until mid-September. At that time, a new Federal Application for Free & Reduced Meals must be completed to receive assistance. If you need more information about free or reduced meal prices, please contact Mrs. Cagle at 972-346-3316.

Parents can access their child’s bus routes under the Transportation/First Student Quick Link on the Prosper ISD website at www.prosper-isd.net. Very few changes have been made to the routes from last year, but parents will want to double check their child’s route in time to prepare for the new school year.

The three PISD elementary schools offered parents the opportunity to purchase school supply packs in the spring. Pre-ordered supplies will be delivered to each child’s classroom before Meet the Teacher Night. Each elementary school has a few school supply packs available for purchase on a first come, first serve basis. Please call the school secretary to inquire about purchasing a school supply pack if you still need one.

Elementary parents interested in registering their children for the YMCA After-School Program can access the enrollment form and information on the Prosper ISD website. Representatives from the YMCA will be at every elementary campus during Meet the Teacher Nights too.

Elementary students will receive a Welcome Back post card in the mail the week of August 18 with their new class assignment included.
