A Flower Mound family was found fatality shot inside their home Tuesday morning. Investigators believe the mother was responsible for the deaths, police said.
The Flower Mound Police Department responded to a call at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of Marble Pass Drive, when a next door neighbor called 911.
Upon arriving, officers discovered four bodies: Michael Lewis Roberts, 41, Andrea Roberts, 41, Micayla Roberts, 11, and Dylan Roberts, 7, inside the residence. Each had suffered from a gunshot to the head.
The neighbor, who was a key holder for the residence, had gone to check on the Roberts family at the request of Mr. Robert’s employer, who indicated that Mr. Roberts missed a business meeting that morning.
“The family had been notified by the employer that Mr. Robert’s missed a business meeting. A family member then notified the key holder and he went over to check on the family,” said Lieutenant Wendell Mitchell, Flower Mound public information officer.
After attempting to contact the family, the neighbor entered the residence and found the body of Mrs. Roberts.
Investigators believe that Mrs. Roberts took the lives of her family before taking her own with a .38 caliber hand gun. The preliminary investigation revealed that there was a hand written suicide note left at the residence stating that Mrs. Roberts took her own life and her family’s. The investigation has also determined that each of the victims was shot in their bedrooms. The bodies have been released to the Tarrant County Medical Examiners Office. Investigators are looking to see if Mrs. Roberts was terminally ill but medical records have shown that she was not ill. A review of previous law enforcement activity at this home included a single domestic call in January 2007. The call was in response to a verbal disagreement between Mr. and Mrs. Roberts. No offense occurred during that disagreement. The final report, which should be available soon, should identify the weapon and the medical conditions of the family members.
“The investigation is still ongoing and it will take up to six weeks before we have a report from the medical examiners office,” Mitchell said.
