School board to recognize athletes

The Frisco ISD school board has set aside time to recognize the achievements of the district's student athletes at Monday's regular meeting.

Wakeland High School girls, Centennial and Frisco High School boys and girls will be recognized for their participation in the sport of wrestling. Wakeland boys and Centennial girls and boys and Frisco girls and boys will be recognized for swimming and diving. Frisco girls will also be recognized for basketball.

The board also will act on the acceptance of certification of unopposed candidates and approval of order of cancellation for the May 12 board of trustees election.

Board trustees will also look at a preliminary budget outline and discuss issues related to the Lone Star High School site layout, playground surfacing for Anderson, Carroll, and Fisher elementary schools and the status of Robertson and MooneyHam elementary schools. They will consider competitive sealed construction proposals for Briar Ridge Road and transportation center west. Other construction issues they discuss will be a construction manager-at-risk process for Legacy Elementary School and a competitive sealed proposal for package two of summer projects.

Also, on the agenda is considering and acting on the purchase of two elementary school sites and technology issues.

Personnel issues are also on the agenda.

There will be reports from support teams including curriculum reports and TAKS scores. There will be administrative services and human resources reports.

The communications report will include information on kindergarten roundup and Frisco Education Foundation Scholarship night on April 12.

The superintendent's report will include scheduling of a budget workshop, key indicators, and Frisco night at Pizza Hut Park on April 26.

In closed session the board will consider real estate issues, including the site purchase for Legacy Elementary, and the site for two middle schools. Personnel matters will also be discussed in closed session including a follow-up on the superintendent evaluation.
